Special Features Sutton Foster Talks Taking on Charity The two-time Tony winner talks about her upcoming turn in the iconic role.
Sutton Foster

By now, Sutton Foster has put her spin on dozens of roles. From creating women like Millie Dillmount and Janet Van De Graaff to bringing life characters like Jo March and Princess Fiona, from her own takes on iconic women like Queenie and Reno Sweeney, Foster brings bravado, humor and often an endearing quirkiness to her characters鈥攏ot to mention her powerhouse vocals and pristine dance technique. It鈥檚 no surprise that audiences can鈥檛 wait to see Foster take on Sweet Charity with the New Group come November 2.

鈥淚鈥檓 super excited and super scared,鈥 says Foster at a press event to promote the third season of her hit TVLand show Younger. 鈥淚 like to do things that scare me, and I like to do things that push me and make me grow, and this is one of them. It鈥檒l be a lot of flop-sweat and probably a lot of tears, so it will be all out there.鈥

Having had her chance at other landmark parts, Foster is eager to 颅tackle Charity. 鈥淚t鈥檚 definitely a role that I鈥檝e been dreaming of,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be a huge dance show.鈥 As Foster has spent more time on set for Younger these days, she鈥檚 eager to get back into her dance shoes.

Still, Sweet Charity is only a special engagement through December 23. Foster would love to be able to get back to the stage full-time, but what might bring her there? 鈥淚t would be great to do something new,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his will be my third revival in a role, which is awesome, but it鈥檇 be great to create something new.鈥

The Off-Broadway revival of Sweet Charity will officially open November 20 at The Pershing Square Signature Center. .
