Suzan-Lori ParksPlays for the Plague Year will get an encore run at The Public's Joe's Pub in April 2023. Parks will reprise her performance as The Writer with director Niegel Smith also returning to again helm. The work, the culmination of Parks' project writing a play a day throughout the COVID shutdown, made its world premiere at Joe's Pub last month.

The Off-Broadway company announced the news .

The encore is being planned partially because of the amount of performances that were cancelled during this year's run, following several cases of COVID-19 within the company.

The world premiere featured Parks leading a company that also included Leland Fowler, Greg Keller, Orville Mendoza, Kenita Miller, Lauren Molina, Mart铆n Sol谩, and Pearl Sun. Rounding out the ensemble were understudies Edward Astor Chin, Danyel Fulton, and Will Stone. It's unclear if the original cast, beyond Parks, will return for the encore run.

The production features scenic and projection design by Peter Nigrini, costume design by Rodrigo Mu帽oz, lighting design by Ania Washington, and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier. Buzz Cohen is production stage manager.

Parks is a Pulitzer winner for her 2001 play Topdog/Underdog, now back on Broadway in a 20th anniversary revival directed by Kenny Leon. Her other works include Betting on the Dust Commander, Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3, Sally & Tom, and The Harder They Come.
