Taran Killam joins the Broadway cast of Hamilton as King George III January 17.
Killam, the former Saturday Night Live cast member who was seen as sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello in the 2015 City Center Encores! production of Little Shop of Horrors, replaces Rory O'Malley in the role of King George. O鈥橫alley concluded his run January 15 and will star in the musical's forthcoming national tour. Killam tweeted a photo of himself in costume.
Among other upcoming cast changes, James Monroe Iglehart will take over the role of Jefferson/Lafayette at a date to be announced in April. Anthony Lee Medina will make his Broadway debut as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton at a date to be announced in March; he succeeds Jordan Fisher, who will play his final performance March 5. Medina was seen as Otto in the first national tour of Spring Awakening, Usnavi in In the Heights at Theater Under the Stars, and Young Sal in The Public Theater鈥檚 The Capeman.
Javier Mu帽oz currently stars as Alexander Hamilton on Broadway in a company that also features Brandon Victor Dixon as Aaron Burr.

With book, music, and lyrics by Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, music direction/orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow鈥檚 biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. The musical won 11 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Score, Book of a Musical, Direction of a Musical, Choreography, and Orchestrations.
This is not Killam鈥榮 first involvement in Hamilton. On January 2, 2016, he appeared on the steps of the Richard Rodgers Theatre as that week鈥榮 guest for #Ham4Ham. Watch it here:
