When asked about changing into his Hedwig costume, Diggs says that it is putting on the heels that really allows him to get into character. "You're forced to sway your hips a certain way," he explains. "My walk from the dressing room to backstage...I've got a little junk in the trunk."
Diggs goes on to say that he never thought he'd have the opportunity to play the title character, who is German. "I never thought I'd have the opportunity. Thank goodness and their open-mindedness, they had me on a list and called me up and I immediately accepted."
"Today Show" hosts Hoda Kotb and Matt Lauer ask the star how he is dealing with the demands of the Broadway schedule and while he admits that it is difficult, he continues to love it. Diggs goes on to say that playing Hedwig is "the role of a lifetime" and that he can guarantee that he will "never play anything as challenging as this...I can't imagine that I'll ever be challenged like this again."
