Newsies star Ben Fankhauser will not perform during the first week of previews for The Mad Ones at 59E59 Theaters as he takes a week of doctor-imposed vocal rest. The musical, which was set to have its first preview November 7, will now begin November 8 with Jay Armstrong Johnson in the role of Adam.
Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk鈥檚 new musical The Mad Ones鈥�previously titled The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown鈥攊s debuting Off-Broadway in a production from 59E59 and Prospect Theater Company.
The is made up of Krystina Alabado (American Psycho, ) as Samantha, (Next to Normal, Spring Awakening), Fankhauser, and Leah Hocking.
The Mad Ones follows Samantha, a young woman on the brink of change. As she sits in her parents鈥� driveway, the young woman faces a choice: Will she follow in her mother's footsteps or forge her own path?
Directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Seller), performances are set to continue through December 17.
The Mad Ones is choreographed by Alexandra Beller (Bedlam鈥檚 Sense and Sensibility), and Paul Staroba is music director.
The design team includes Adam Rigg (scenic design), David Lander (lighting design), (costume design), and Alex Hawthorn (sound design). The production stage manager is Veronica Aglow, and the casting director is Michael Cassara, CSA.
