The Rosenbergs, a new play by S. Asher Gelman (Afterglow, safeword), will get an NYC industry presentation this month. Two invitation-only performances will be held March 21 at 10:30 AM and 2 PM at Midnight Theatricals. Chloe Treat is directing.
The play sees the Rosenberg family trapped in their luxury Turks and Caicos bungalow as a hurricane wreaks havoc outside. Inside, the family comes to terms with their identity, faith, and geopolitical stances.
The cast will include Caroline Aaron (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Francis Benhamou (Prayer for the French Republic), William DeMerritt (The Normal Heart), Andy Gale (Rags), Adam Kantor (The Band's Visit), Zachary Prince (Mother Play), Sharone Sayegh (Come From Away), and Rebbekah Vega-Romero. Casting is by Geoff Josselson.
鈥淎s someone who has spent my entire life wrestling with my Jewish identity, and all the complexities and contradictions that lie within, it has been a profoundly cathartic and beautiful experience exploring what it means to be Jewish, in this moment, with this extraordinary group of people,鈥 says Gelman in a statement. 鈥淚n our deeply divided time, I hope this play inspires people to seek a way back together, despite our differences in identity and belief.鈥
Midnight Theatricals is producing the presentations, and Evan Bernardin Productions is general managing. Chris Steckel will serve as production stage manager.
