The Sol Project, the New York-based collective of artists whose mission is to nurture and produce the work of Latinx playwrights, has added another Off-Broadway institution to its expanding network: New York Theatre Workshop. The Project has also announced its first national partnership鈥攚ith Yale Repertory Theatre in Connecticut.
NYTW joins a roster of Off-Broadway theatres that have already signed on with The Sol Project: Playwrights Realm, MCC Theater, Atlantic Theater Company, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, New Georges, Women鈥檚 Project Theater, LAByrinth Theater Company, The Public Theater, and Playwrights Horizons. Every partner commits to co-produce a play with the Sol Project, to commission a new piece from a Latinx playwright for future production, and to meet with as many artists of color, in all fields鈥攁dministrative, crew, and design鈥攄uring the collaboration.

The Sol Project is also working with its first national partner, Yale Rep, for the world-premiere production of Charise Castro Smith鈥檚 El Hurac谩n, directed by Laurie Woolery. In the new play, a mother and daughter brace themselves for an epic hurricane to hit Miami as Abuela takes shelter in a world of memory, music, and magic. Performances will begin September 28 and continue through October 20.

The world premiere will mark The Sol Project's fourth production. The collective is made up of Jacob Padr贸n, Claudia Acosta, Elena Araoz, Adriana Gaviria, David Mendiz谩bal, Kyoung Park, and Woolery. For more information visit .
