Now in its third year, Theatre Producers of Color has chosen the 2023 cohort of emerging producers for the Producing 101 educational program. The organization, created to support the next generation of BIPOC producers, will guide the new prospects in the fundamentals of commercial producing in the tuition-free program.
The 2023 participants will include T岷筸铆day峄� Amay, Gustavo Blaauw, Kahari Blue, Regina De Vera, Jos茅 Hugo Hurtado, Averi Israel, Sukhjit Khalsa, Seonjae Kim, Zo毛 Kim, Nicole Kwan, Sierra Lancaster, Joshua Lee, Marla Louissaint, Esm茅 Maria Ng, CJ Ochoco, Michela Rodriguez, Lainie Sakakura, Simone Tetrault, Bibiana Torres, Michael Thanh Tran, Cindy Tsai, Natalie Graves Tucker, Miho Ueno, Angelica Vicens, and Alexandria Wailes.
Producer Sammy Lopez (A Christmas Carol, Be More Chill) will again serve as program mentor. The students will use the new Broadway-bound musical How to Dance in Ohio as a case study to learn from as they handle individual projects.
A host of professional Broadway producers are lined up as guest speakers for the 11-week program, including Jill A. Anderson, Tony winner Osh Ashruf, Tony winner Rashad V. Chambers, Samuel Dallas, Tony winner Ken Davenport, Tony winner Ben Holtzman, Toni Isreal, Nicole Javanna Johnson, Tony winner Dale Mott, Doug Nevin, Leslie Papa, Ilene Rosen, Tony nominee Matt Ross, Erica Rotstein, Heather Shields, Ron Simons, Tony nominee Rachel Sussman, Cynthia J. Tong, and Ava Xiao-Lin Rigelhaupt.
Participants from recent years have already begun to produce on Broadway, with alumni making Main Stem debuts with The Piano Lesson, A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, Dana H., and Is This a Room.
