My first Broadway musical. You always remember the first of pretty much everything. It was perfect. In the years to come, I would work with many of the cast members.

There's no one with better presence that Lee Roy, the pride of Kentucky. A fun show with a great moral.

Harry was my student when I taught at San Francisco City College. It was a proud maternal moment.

I saw her Moms Mabley show in San Francisco and was happy for her success. A cast of characters and a white petticoat.

I shared a dressing room at Lincoln Center with the legend. She exuded class, but was a great broad at the same time. I was proud to know her.

I saw her on The Tonight Show saying she had never done a musical but was cast as Rose in the upcoming production. She took on the greatest female vocalist role (I've done it) and nailed it. I admire courage.

O.K., it's the televised version of the show, but I was a kid and it made such a lasting impression on a small town girl from Modesto that years later when I met her I could not speak.  It was right after her car accident so the meeting was extra special.
