Tony-winning director (A Raisin in the Sun, Fences) will direct the benefit for the non-profit arts education organization Opening Act. Fabulation, or the Re-Education of Undine will be presented at New World Stages.
Pinkins and Rose will be joined by ("The Wire") and (West Side Story, Side Man). Showtime is 6:30 PM.
Here's how the play is billed: "贵补产耻濒补迟颈辞苍鈥� is a social satire about an ambitious and haughty African-American woman, Undine Barnes Calles, whose husband suddenly disappears after embezzling all of her money. Pregnant and on the brink of social and financial ruin, Undine retreats to her childhood home in Brooklyn's Walt Whitman projects, only to discover that she must cope with a crude new reality. Undine faces the challenge of transforming her setbacks into small victories in a battle to reaffirm her right to be. 贵补产耻濒补迟颈辞苍鈥� is a comeuppance tale with a comic twist."
The event also includes a pre-show and post-show reception. Proceeds of the evening go directly to Opening Act鈥檚 free theatre programs.
