News Veteran Actor John McEnery to Play King Lear at London's Rose Playhouse Veteran actor , who was part of the original RSC cast of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby that transferred to Broadway in 1981, is to play the title role of for a new production at the Rose Playhouse in London, beginning performances April 7 prior to an official opening April 9, for a run through April 30.

McEnery's previous credits include a BAFTA-nominated performance as Mercutio in Franco Zeffirelli's "Rome and Juliet." He has appeared onstage with seemingly everyone from (in ) to (Richard II). The cast will also include Claire Dyson (Goneril), Orla Jackson (Regan, who is also the production's fight director), Emma Kirrage (Cordelia), Brian Merry (Gloucesetr), Ludovic Hughes (Edgar), William De Coverly (Edmund), David Knight (Kent), Simon Chappell (Albany), Martin Prest (Cornwall), Samuel Clifford (Fool), Edmund Sage-Green (Oswald/Burgundy) and Anatole Gadsby (France/Doctor). The musician is Claire Monique-Martin.
