The Netflix movie adaptation of Jonathan Larson's tick, tick...BOOM! released a deleted scene, ahead of the 94th Academy Awards ceremony where lead actor Andrew Garfield is nominated for Best Actor.
The cut song is called "Green Green Dress" and was featured in the original stage production. In the movie, directed by Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical number is performed by Garfield, who plays Larson, and Alexandra Shipp, who plays Larson's girlfriend Susan Wilson. The scene takes place in the first act during Larson's party, during the couple's rooftop conversation.

"Green Green Dress" isn't the only song that was cut during the Netflix adaptation. The songs "Sugar" and "See Her Smile" were omitted during the production process, however those two scenes were never filmed. An R&B version of "Green Green Dress" sung by Joshua Henry was included briefly in the movie and can be heard in the official soundtrack.
In addition to Garfield and Shipp, the movie musical stars Broadway actors Robin de Jesus, Vanessa Hudgens, Michaela Ja茅 Rodriguez, Ben Levi Ross, and Judith Light. The story follows Rent playwright Larson and his journey into the musical theatre industry, including his short-lived musical Suburbia. It was originally performed as a solo show by Larson before being adapted into a three-person stage musical by David Auburn following Larson's death.
