The current London production of John Logan鈥檚 Red, running through July 28 at the West End鈥檚 Wyndham鈥檚 Theatre, will make its way from stage to screen this fall. The Michael Grangage Company presentation will be screened in movie theatres in the U.K. and North America November 7 through Trafalgar Releasing.
The production stars Alfred Molina, who reprises his Tony-nominated performance as Mark Rothko. Molina played the American abstract expressionist painter in Grandage鈥檚 original staging, which premiered at the Donmar Warehouse in 2009. Joining him now is Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away With Murder) as Rothko鈥檚 young assistant, Ken.
Tickets for the screenings will go on sale August 15.
Grandage, currently represented on Broadway with Disney鈥檚 Frozen, says the screenings are a part of his company鈥檚 mission 鈥渢o reach as wide an audience as possible.鈥 Logan adds, 鈥淲orking on Red has always been a joy and privilege, and I鈥檓 thrilled to have this consummate production of my play preserved on film.鈥
