When Jeremy Jordan was asked to return to the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, he said, 鈥淲ell, sure. I ain鈥檛 got nothing else to do.鈥 Jordan recounts this story to 半岛体育 with his charming, leading-man smile stretched across his face, of course.
He keeps talking, though, and it鈥檚 clear that his reasons for reprising his turn as Seymour (which he says is 鈥渙ne of the most physically-taxing roles鈥 he鈥檚 ever had to do) are many. 鈥淪eymour is a dream role. It鈥檚 such a great character and it鈥檚 a really fun journey to go through every night.鈥 Continuing he says, 鈥淚t鈥檚 an underdog character鈥擨 think most of us theatre folks felt that way at least one point in our lives.鈥 See Jordan chat even more about why he's returning to Mushnik's Skid Row Florists in the video above.
Jordan first appeared in the revival of the Howard Ashman and Alan Menken musical when theatres reopened in September 2021 following the pandemic shutdown (when the pandemic broke out, Jordan was getting ready to step into the role). For this reprise, Jordan succeeds Company Tony winner Matt Doyle. Jordan's run begins July 25 and is scheduled through September 17. The production, running at the Westside Theatre, also currently stars Joy Woods as Audrey, Bryce Pinkham as Dr. Orin Scrivello D.D.S., Brad Oscar as Mushnik, Aaron Arnell Harrington as The Voice of Audrey II, D鈥橩aylah Unique Whitley as Ronnette, Tiffany Renee Thompson as Crystal, and Khadija Sankoh as Chiffon.

The self-professed introvert says he鈥檚 also glad to be back as part of this really special company, joking that the theatre鈥檚 only two dressing rooms force him to interact with the cast in a 鈥渘ot-only-on-stage kind of a way鈥hich is really good for me as a human.鈥 See photos of Jordan from his previous run in Little Shop of Horrors below.
