Position:College Apprenticeship � Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Educational Theatre

Duration: June 23- August 3 (6 weeks) � Full-time

Open Arts Alliance is offering an inaugural, hands-on apprenticeship opportunity for college students to gain early career experience in Lighting Design, Scenic Design, and Educational Theatre. This is an unpaid educational opportunity designed in conjunction with current college students enrolled in BFA/BA Programs which will provide valuable learning experiences and skill development. Apprentices will work closely with full-time staff members and take a hands-on role in rehearsals and performances. College credit available.
Design lighting plot for student Summerstage productions including Regards to Broadway, Legally Blonde & The Jungle Book, collaborating with the production team.
Hanging instruments and ensuring the safe load-in of each production.
Running lighting for performances, ensuring smooth technical execution.
Assist with rehearsals and help troubleshoot lighting elements as needed.
Assist with the scenic design process, collaborating on the construction and realization of sets for our Summerstage productions.
Drafting construction models and paint elevations for Summerstage productions including Regards to Broadway, Legally Blonde & The Jungle Book, collaborating with the production team.
Scenic design research and development as well as planning and construction for fall OAA season.
Assist with rehearsals and help in any additional set-related tasks as needed.
Prepare and facilitate daily 20-minute educational experiences and learning opportunities during rehearsals of our Summerstage season for groups of up to 20 students in grades 1-7.
Work with students to develop their kinesthetic awareness and stage presence.
Support daily rehearsal needs to ensure a smooth process for director and students.
Currently enrolled in a college/university program (preferably in lighting design, scenic design, or theatre education).
First-hand experience in your relevant field.
Strong interest in educational theatre.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
