JB Theatricals is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Costume Designer for UNSEX鈥檇 by Jay Whitehead and Daniel Judes.This production is an AEA Showcase, performing as part of Frigid New York鈥檚 Little Shakespeare Festival.
The designer will be responsible for costuming two actors in both period and modern attire, including drag, underwear, corsets, and Elizabethan-style garments.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coordinate with creative team to determine costume needs
2. Create costume plot, coordinate quick changes, and manage repair
3. Maintain clothing during the run, including laundering and sanitization
4. Partner with Stage Management to maintain costumes during the run, including laundering and sanitization.
5. Attend production meetings and technical rehearsals
6. Identify and acquire costume deliverables included rented, purchased, and made
7. Participate in sorting and organizing costumes during strike.
About the Show
UNSEX鈥檇 takes us back to a reimagined Elizabethan time, a time men played all the roles in theatre, and introduces audiences to two boy-players, the seasoned Wilburn Hussey, and the pretty, new ingenue, Humphrey Hughes, as they fight it out for the role of Lady Macbeth in Shakespeare's new Scottish play. Both will do anything, ANYTHING, to catch the eye, and affections, of the playwright. UNSEX'd is an unapologetically queer, completely historically inaccurate, cheeky comedy / drama which contains naughty bits, lots of laughs and a dark-side.

Compensation
$500 paid in two installments
