DESCRIPTION
鈥淒aredevils鈥� is a new show created by Starvox Touring for Las Vegas audiences. This project entails the development and delivery of a large-scale live entertainment production that merges immersive theatrical elements with cutting-edge projection art. The production will be staged in a custom-built or adapted venue environment and is expected to deliver a multisensory audience experience.
The Director of Production will oversee and manage the physical realization of the show from conceptualization through closing, ensuring all production elements are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest artistic and technical standards.
Scope of Work
1. Pre-Production & Concept Development
- Collaborate with the creative team (Director, Creator, Designers) to translate artistic vision into executable production plans.
- Develop preliminary technical feasibility assessments for immersive and projection-based elements.
- Lead design feasibility meetings and participate in creative workshops or R&D sessions.
- Advise on production budgets, timelines, and technical constraints.
2. Design Oversight
- Oversee all technical design processes including scenic, lighting, video/projection, sound, special effects, rigging, and automation.
- Serve as liaison between designers and production departments to ensure alignment of creative goals with operational reality and within budgetary confinements.
- Review and approve technical drawings, models, and prototypes for constructibility and safety.
- Ensure the integration of projection mapping and immersive technologies is seamlessly designed and coordinated with other departments.
- All above designs must bear in mind the multi-function and dual usage of the immersive gallery during the day time.
3. Build & Fabrication Management
- Oversee fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of all production elements (set, props, AV, etc.) keeping in mind what Producer already owns in pre-existing inventory.
- Supervise shop builds (onsite or third-party vendors) to ensure specifications, budget, and timelines are met.
- Conduct regular site visits and production check-ins to assess progress and troubleshoot challenges.
- Coordinate all logistics for shipping, delivery, and installation of production assets.
4. Venue Preparation & Installation
- Oversee site prep and venue-specific adaptations, ensuring the venue meets all show and operational requirements with the local Production team.
- Lead the load-in, installation, and technical setup of all production components.
- Supervise integration of projection equipment and immersive elements, working closely with projection/video designers and technical directors.
- Ensure all safety standards and codes are met, including fire regulations, structural assessments, and emergency protocols.
5. Rehearsals & Show Execution
- Manage all technical and dress rehearsals, working closely with stage management, creative, and crew
- Ensure smooth transitions between departments during cueing, tech runs, and previews.
- Support operational readiness for opening and ongoing performance runs.
- Resolve production issues in real-time and maintain artistic integrity throughout the show run.
6. Team & Vendor Management
- With local production team, and producer, hire, supervise, and manage production personnel and department heads (Technical Director, Head of Video, Scenic Supervisor, etc.)
- Oversee contracts and deliverables for external vendors and freelancers.
- Foster a collaborative and safe working environment for all production teams.
- Manage cross-departmental communications and reporting structures.
7. Budget & Timeline Control
- Review and manage the production budget, tracking expenses and forecasting needs.
- Approve major expenditures and reconcile invoices in collaboration with the finance department.
- Create, maintain, and enforce master production schedules and critical path milestones ensuring relevant department feedback is incorporated into the master calendar
- Provide regular reporting to executive leadership and producing teams.
8. Strike (If necessary), Post-Production & Archival
- Lead the strike and load-out of production assets at the end of run (if necessary; current run scheduled to be open-ended).
- Coordinate storage, repurposing, or disposal of materials as needed.
- Oversee post-mortem evaluations and generate final production reports.
- Ensure archival of production documentation, cue sheets, renderings, and technical data.
