DESCRIPTION

We are seeking submissions from femme, queer actors for a 10 minute play, To Be Loved is To Be Alive that will be in the lineup for a new theatre company, Audacious Owl Productions鈥�, first play festival! It will be a week-long festival from June 9th-June 15th at Chain Theatre, guaranteeing two performances (one weekday and one weekend performance which is still TBD).

Two women from opposite worlds come to an understanding of the truth of their loved one at their funeral.

Character Breakdown

Mina Rosen (23) **To be played a woman of color**: (she/her) The best friend of Sadie ever since birth. She is kind, God-fearing, and 鈥渂y the book鈥�. Some would even say she is the ultimate good- she values Christianity but has to reckon that it could be what got in between her friendship with Sadie. Mina is very hesitant and resentful in the present time as her best friend died without being the 鈥渞eal鈥� her.

El Goldstein (22): (she/her, she/they, they/them) Sadie鈥檚 girlfriend/partner. Born and raised in New York City. She is friendly, approachable, inquisitive, and proud (which can be misinterpreted). She intends to gather as much information about Sadie鈥檚 life (past and present) as possible to keep her spirit alive.

The show will be in tech either June 9th or June 10th and will have one weekday and one weekend performance. The performances date are not solidified yet, but we ask that you have open availability during that time period!
