National Theater Institute Program Coordinator, Eugene O鈥橬eill Theater Center

The National Theater Institute (NTI) at the Eugene O鈥橬eill Theater Center (The O鈥橬eill) is in search of a Program Coordinator for the Summer 2025 Theatermakers semester (early June - early August). This seasonal position joins NTI as the Artistic Director鈥檚 right hand person. They will have an active role in supporting, planning, and executing the 2025 Theatermakers semester.

This is an exempt position and is expected to work 40 hours per week, including some nights and weekends. The salary for this position is a weekly stipend of $685.

Company Description

Founded in 1970, the National Theater Institute offers six semester-long undergraduate programs of professional training taught by industry professionals and master teachers as a way to help students springboard into their careers as actors, singers, directors, dancers, designers, playwrights, and composers.

The Eugene O鈥橬eill Theater Center is the country鈥檚 preeminent organization dedicated to the development of new works and new voices for the stage. From its campus in Waterford, Connecticut, the O鈥橬eill has been home to more than 1,000 new works for the stage and thousands more emerging artists.

The Opportunity

The NTI Program Coordinator will work directly with the NTI Artistic Director to support the successful planning and execution of Theatermakers 2025. Start date May 1, 2025 end date August 8, 2025

They must be an organized, creative, and efficient team member with a demonstrated background and strong interest in arts management, theater, and/or arts education.

They must demonstrate that they have the ability to critically think and strategically plan to support NTI鈥檚 students, faculty, and staff. They also must be able to communicate effectively to not only NTI staff, but also to the remaining O鈥橬eill staff with necessary NTI information.

Among other responsibilities, the NTI Program Coordinator will:

-Work with and assist the NTI Artistic Director and staff to plan and execute Theatermakers 2025. This includes scheduling faculty, planning trips, and tracking expenses.

-Update and distribute the student handbook to the incoming cohort and collect student forms.

-Be a resource and supporting staff member to all Theatermaker students by observing performances and scene work when possible, implementing all NTI policies and procedures, and traveling with them on trips to local Connecticut theaters.

-Build Fellows schedule and co-manage the Theatermaker Fellows to support faculty, execute travel plans, and ensure classrooms are properly prepared.

-Work with O鈥橬eill staff such as the Production Manager and Company Manager to coordinate NTI needs including travel/housing and production requirements.

-Manage and distribute all NTI classroom calendars ensuring each class is taught for the appropriate amount of time in the appropriate space available.

-Other duties as assigned.

Experience

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years of relevant professional experience in arts management. Also, they should be proficient with scheduling software (such as Propared), MS Office Suite, and Google workplace. Must exhibit a strong commitment to theater and the arts.
