The Broadway Theatre opened on March 3, 1888, financed by James Bailey, the former partner of circus phenomenon P.T. Barnum. This theatre housed the final appearance of actor Edwin Booth on a New York stage, in Shakespeare鈥檚 Hamlet. It was demolished in January 1929.
