The Candler Theatre opened at 226 W. 42nd Street in 1914. Renamed the Sam H. Harris Theatre, the venue housed Arthur Hopkins鈥� famous production of Hamlet starring John Barrymore. The Candler Theatre was gutted and demolished, as the Harris Theatre, in 1996.
