New York City Children鈥檚 Theater will honor Idris Goodwin, Emma Halpern, and Marietta Ries Lavicka during its 25th Anniversary Gala May 24 at 6:30 PM at The Edison Ballroom.
NYCCT will present playwright and director Goodwin, currently the executive director of The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, with the Luminary Award; Halpern, the former co-artistic director of New York City Children鈥檚 Theater, with the Family of Artists Award; and Ries Lavicka, the New York City Children鈥檚 Theater Board Chair, with the Harmony Award.
The evening will also feature performances from Tony nominee Anika Larsen (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and Freddie Maxwell, Telly Leung (Aladdin), and Michelle Arotsky, Quinn Corcoran, and Kevin Morrison, who will offer tunes from NYCCT鈥檚 family musicals.
New York City Children鈥檚 Theater鈥檚 mission is to promote children鈥檚 literacy and social development through accessible professional theatre productions and arts-in-education programs. The gala will celebrate the three honorees and the difference the company makes in over 20,000 children鈥檚 lives each year.
The gala co-chairs are board members Larsen and Javier Sanchez.
