The cast will include Norma Atallah, Fanta Barrie, Thomas Grant, Rosalind James, Julie Legrand, Harveen Mann, Minal Patel, Keith Ramsay, Howard Samuels, and Tosh Wanogho-Maud.
In the new musical, encroaching re-development is threatening residents in one of London鈥檚 poorest and most culturally diverse neighborhoods. But when two young brothers arrive from Northern Ireland with an idea for a cafe that stimulates childhood nostalgia, members of the community are brought together to fight against the loss of all that they hold dear. While many turn to the new cafe for comfort, its arrival is feared by some in the community.
The Cereal Caf茅 has book and lyrics by Jacob Dorrell and Tom Ling and music by Adam Dickinson.
Co-creator Dorrell said in a statement, 鈥�The Cereal Caf茅 is a story set in a neighborhood experiencing rapid re-development, so it addresses issues affecting many inner city areas around the UK. It鈥檚 a real collision of light and dark, where subjects so far apart all somehow come together. This is reflected in the show鈥檚 sound-world, mixing musical theatre, pop, rock and cinema.鈥�
The workshop will also have orchestrations by Alistair Robertson and Jack Blume, musical supervision and arrangements by Jack Blume, sound design by Max Hunter, and lighting design by Michael Fox. The producer is Jacob Dorrell, and the casting director is Danielle Tarento.
