Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl

A revitalized DVD edition of the Funny Girl movie will be available November 19 from Criterion, with a 4K digital restoration version of the film itself and several special features.

The special features will include a new audio interview with Barbra Streisand, who stars as Fanny Brice; an archival interview with Omar Sharif; a deleted scene featuring Streisand and Sharif; a conversation between director William Wyler's son and author Alicia Malone; a documentary on Wyler's life and career; featurettes from the original theatrical release; English subtitles; and an essay by author and film critic Michael Koresky.

Funny Girl features a score with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill, and a book by Isobel Lennart, who adapted the screenplay for the movie version as well. Premiering on Broadway in 1964, the musical propelled a young Streisand to international fame. The subsequent film was released in 1968 and earned Streisand an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Funny Girl recently received its first-ever Broadway revival in a new production featuring a revised book from Tony winner Harvey Fierstein. That production is currently on a U.S. national tour.
