Disney Musicals in Schools will launch an additional program to expand musical theatre access in schools across the country called Stage Connect. For the past 16 years, the Disney Musicals in Schools program has helped create sustainable and empowering musical theatre programs in public elementary schools, available in 22 cities across the U.S. and U.K. through collaborations with local performing arts organizations.

The company offers recipient schools free performance rights and materials to a 30-minute Disney musical created specifically for elementary school performers. Additionally, schools also receive free, in-school support from a pair of teaching artists who guide classroom teachers through producing their first school show.

Now, Stage Connect will offer an online teacher training program that will expand the existing program across the country, removing geographic barriers and expanding to communities that may not have access to the existing program. Demonstration videos (hosted by Broadway's The Lion King stars L. Steven Taylor and Bonita J. Hamilton) and downloadable resources will guide teachers through all aspects of putting on a show.

Beginning this spring, any public elementary school can apply for free access to Stage Connect and free performance rights to a Disney show. Available titles include 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin, The Aristocats, Finding Nemo, Frozen, The Jungle Book, The Lion King, and Winnie the Pooh. Stage Connect will provide foundational training to educators regardless of their prior experience.

Any public elementary school or charter school is eligible to apply for musicals being produce in the 2025-2026. A total of 200 schools will be selected. Chosen schools must commit a team of four teachers or other school staff to the program. The application window spans April 21-July 1. Recipients will be notified in August.
