News Photo Call: Brandy Does Broadway! Pop and TV Star Takes Her First Bow in Chicago The Broadway company of the Tony Award-winning, record-breaking hit musical Chicago welcomes Grammy Award winner Brandy Norwood to the Ambassador Theatre beginning April 28.

Norwood, who starred opposite the late Whitney Houston in the most recent TV version of "Cinderella," is making her Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart. She is playing an eight-week limited engagement through June 21.

A Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter and actress, Norwood has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, including such hits as 鈥淚 Wanna Be Down鈥� and 鈥淭he Boy Is Mine.鈥� As an actress, Norwood starred in her own sitcom, 鈥淢oesha,鈥� and recently received a 2014 NAACP Image Award for her role as Chardonnay on BET鈥檚 鈥淭he Game.鈥�

The Broadway company currently features as Velma Kelly, Tony Award nominee as Billy Flynn, as Amos Hart, as Matron 鈥淢ama鈥� Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

Chicago has set design by , costume design by Tony Award winner , lighting design by , sound design by , musical supervision by Rob Fisher and musical direction by . The revival of and 's Chicago began life as one of the three annual Encores! presentations offered by City Center. The musical opened on Broadway at the Theatre in November 1996 where it remained through February 1997. The musical transferred to the Shubert Theatre on Feb. 11, 1997, and played that house through Jan. 26, 2003. The revival reopened at the Ambassador Theatre, its current home, on Jan. 29, 2003.

Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for original cast members and , director , lighting designer Billington and choreographer . The original 1975 production was directed and choreographed by the late .
