Resnick went on for several recent performances of the Adam Guettel-Tina Landau musical in the title role.

It was wonderstudy to the rescue at some recent performances of Broadway's Floyd Collins. With Tony-nominated star Jeremy Jordan out, understudy Zak Resnick (usually in the musical's ensemble) made his debut starring in the title role of the Adam Guettel-Tina Landau musical May 25 and 27 at Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater, and we've got pictures from the special performances. Take a look in the gallery below.

“Going on for Floyd—on the stage of the Vivian Beaumont—is literally a dream come true," Resnick told us. "Every boy growing up in theatre dreams of playing this role, and somehow I got to do it. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity and I will never forget this moment. My brain chemistry has been altered.

"I also want to say that Jeremy Jordan is a f*cking rockstar. I cannot speak highly enough of this man. Everyone should get the chance to work with someone as gracious and kind as he is. He is not only one of the best voices (ever) on a Broadway stage, but he REALLY cares about the work. The man is golden. Give him the Tony!!!"

The cast also includes Jason Gotay as Homer Collins, Sean Allan Krill as H.T. Carmichael, Marc Kudisch as Lee Collins, Lizzy McAlpine as Nellie Collins, Wade McCollum as Bee Doyle, Jessica Molaskey as Miss Jane, 2025 Tony nominee Taylor Trensch as Skeets Miller, Cole Vaughan as Jewell Estes, and Clyde Voce as Ed Bishop. The cast also includes Dwayne Cooper, Jeremy Davis, Charlie Franklin, and Kevyn Morrow, with understudies Kristen Hahn and Happy McPartlin; and swings Kevin Bernard, Justin Showell, and Colin Trudell rounding out the company. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Patrick Goodwin.

Based on a true story, the work follows a cave explorer who discovers a cave he thinks could be the next goldmine tourist attraction, only to become trapped inside on his way out. Above ground, one of the country's first-ever media circuses develops tracking the efforts to rescue him. The musical was among the first major professional credits for now Tony-winning composer Guettel (The Light in the Piazza) and book writer-director Landau (SpongeBob SquarePants, Redwood). Landau is also at the helm of this new staging.
