The West End transfer of the Theatre Royal Bath production of Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea, which played a sell-out run at the Ustinov Studio last year, begins May 7.
Directed by Lindsay Posner, the production will officially open May 14 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket for a limited engagement through June 21.
Joining original cast members Tamsin Greig as Hester Collyer and Nicholas Farrell as Sir William Collyer are Hadley Fraser as Freddie, Selina Cadell as Mrs. Elton, and Finbar Lynch as Miller. The company also includes Preston Nyman as Philip Welch, Lisa Ambalavanar as Ann Welch, and Marc Elliott as Jackie Jackson.
Rattigan's 1950s drama follows Hester Collyer, the daughter of a clergyman and wife of a judge, who is floundering in the closing stages of a hopeless affair. Freddie Page, her lover, a handsome ex-Battle of Britain pilot, is out of his depth in their relationship, overwhelmed by the strength of an emotion he is incapable of reciprocating.
The creative team also includes set and costume designer Peter McKintosh, lighting designer Paul Pyant, sound designer Gregory Clarke, composer Will Stuart, hair, wigs, and makeup designer Carole Hancock, and casting director Ginny Schiller.
