Equity actors for roles in Act II Playhouse's 2025-26 Season (See breakdown).
Actors of all races and ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition, regardless of gender.
PREPARATION
If auditioning for a Musical, please prepare 2 short selections in the style of the show. An
accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the key you wish. If auditioning
for a Play, please prepare one monologue OR two contrasting monologues � up to 3 minutes
total. All should bring your picture and resume, stapled together.

CHARLOTTE SANDERS: (f) 40s to 60s a successful Broadway playwright � quick-witted; resourceful; optimistic; the engine of The play. Arthur’s wife.
OLIVER ADAMS: (m) 20s a young novelist. Naive, sincere; a romantic with both the brilliant mind and unwary heart of a poet.
ARTHUR SANDERS: (This role is CAST) (m) 50s to 70s Charlotte's husband and co-playwright. A
pessimist to her optimist who delights in being her foil, a skilled writer of quips, both on the page and in life.
MARGOT BELL: (f) 20s to 30s a Broadway singer and actress. Easily cast as the sweet and beautiful ingenue but realizing she's wiser and stronger than the characters she plays.
VICTOR PRATT: (m) 30s to 40s a Broadway leading man--and an idiot. Impressively self-involved; the handsomest, sexiest, manliest man on Broadway according to him; always a beat behind.
OLGA: (This role is CAST) (f) 40s to 50s the housekeeper. A nebulous Eastern European accent
from the Old Country; a proudly uncaring, unhelpful servant; intimidating if not frightening.

SEEKING:
ANNIE WILKES: (This role is CAST) (f) 40s to 60s A former nurse and Paul’s biggest fan. Annie
seems to be a kind, tender woman who cares deeply for Paul. Reveals herself to be manipulative,
cunning, and even cruel. She hides a deep and terrifying malice behind her cheery simple façade.
PAUL SHELDON: (m) 30s to 50s A famed romance novelist tired of the series that has brought him the most acclaim. Returning from a retreat to finish his most recent work, he is involved in a terrible car crash that leaves him with broken legs and unable to care for himself. He’s thoughtful, if not a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty. He quickly realizes how dangerous his situation is and must use anything and everything at his disposal to survive.
SHERIFF BUSTER: (This role is CAST) (m) 30s to 60s. The sheriff of a nearby town searching for
Paul. Very friendly with possible hopes of something more with Annie.

RENEE MCFILLIN: (This role is CAST) (f) A real Renee Mcfillin type. With a beautiful voice, she
lights up every room.
KEVIN TONIAZZO-NAUGHTON: (This role is CAST) (m) A real Kevin Toniazzo-Naughton type.
Leading man with a great voice and comedic timing.

SEEKING:
CATHERINE: (f) 20s to 30s Gifted with her father’s talent for numbers, she gave up her scholarly
pursuits to care for her ailing father in his final years. Knowing she’s been gifted with mathematical abilities, Catherine also worries she’ll inherit more than just his genius.
ROBERT: (m) Catherine and Claire’s father and Hal’s mentor. A brilliant mathematician who, in the
later years of his life, suffered from a severe delusional mental illness. Seen via flashbacks, we get a look at him in various states of mental decline.
HAL: (m) 20s to 30s one of Robert’s Ph.D. students, Hal idolizes Robert as one of his mentors. After Robert’s death, he begins to sift through the notebooks of Robert’s work left behind. In his pursuit of combing through the piles of notebooks left behind, he is drawn closer to Catherine.
CLAIRE: (f) 20s to 40s Catherine’s older sister. She’s moved from Chicago to New York, leaving her younger sister behind to care for their father. She is concerned her sister may be following in her father’s footsteps and wants to move Catherine out of the family home and back to New York with her.

SEEKING:
GEORGE BURNS: (This role is CAST) (m) a witty, self-deprecating storyteller, delivering his
narrative with warmth, humor, and a touch of nostalgia. He recounts his humble beginnings on
Manhattan's Lower East Side, his early struggles in vaudeville, the serendipitous meeting with Gracie, and their rise to fame. George is in limbo, reflecting on his life story to gain entry into heaven and reunite with his beloved wife and comedic partner, Gracie Allen.

ANNIE OAKLEY: (This role is CAST) (f) Vocal range: Mezzo-Belt. - The lead. Sharp-shooting
country girl with raw talent and heart. Bold, brash, but lovable.
DOLLY TATE: (f) Vocal range: Alto (or character mezzo) - Frank’s assistant, often jealous and
snobbish. Comic antagonist with flair.
MRS. POTTER-PORTER / ENSEMBLE: (f) Vocal range: Ensemble Alto/Soprano - A wealthy, highsociety matron with lofty airs. Part of the ballroom scene and comedic fodder in the cultural clash with Annie. Will doubles as additional ensemble roles (guests, showgirls, etc.) and may sing in group numbers.
MRS. SCHUYLER-ADAMS / ENSEMBLE: (f) Vocal range: Ensemble Alto/Soprano - Another posh
socialite and foil for Annie’s lack of refinement. Doubles in ensemble numbers, possibly including
siblings, train passengers, assistants, or show guests.
UTILITY FEMALE ENSEMBLE / DANCER: (f) Versatile track for featured dancing and movement
scenes. Covers various small roles across scenes (train passengers, showgirls, ballroom guests). May include vocal harmony in major ensemble numbers.
FRANK BUTLER: (m) Vocal range: Baritone - Star sharpshooter and Annie’s love interest/rival.
Confident, charming, and a little full of himself. Strong comedic chops.
BUFFALO BILL CODY: (m) Vocal range: Baritone (or Bass-Baritone) - The larger-than-life impresario who runs the Wild West show. A classic showman.
CHARLIE DAVENPORT: (m) Vocal range: Tenor or Baritone - Buffalo Bill’s business manager, fasttalker/ comic relief and show wrangler. Dry humor and high energy. Ensemble and minor solos.
MR. WILSON / PAWNEE BILL: (m) Vocal range: Baritone - Doubles as the hotel owner who first hires Annie and the rival showman Pawnee Bill. Strong character differentiation. Mr. Wilson is cranky but practical; Pawnee Bill is more polished but slightly pompous.
CHIEF SITTING BULL: (m) Native American Vocal range: Spoken or light singing. Calm, wise, and
unexpectedly witty. Acts as Annie’s sponsor and moral compass. Portrayed with dignity and humor. Delivers quiet authority. No Dancing Required.
UTILITY MALE DANCER / ENSEMBLE 1: Vocal range: Ensemble Tenor/Baritone - Performs
featured dance/movement roles and small characters (e.g., townsfolk, show performers, stagehands, train workers, socialites). Participates in major ensemble numbers.
UTILITY MALE DANCER / ENSEMBLE 2: Vocal range: Ensemble Tenor/Baritone - Same function as above; provides depth and flexibility across scenes. May cover minor comedic moments or be
involved in partner dancing.
