Playfulizationism is a new burgeoning philosophy of playfully iterating from the body, imagination and spirit. Come dive into creation through play, movement, and mask with Ryan Pater for four four hour days of absolute fortitude and fantastic frolicking through fantasies only a playfulizationistic brain could fantasize.
Through the study of movement, the release of play, and the inspiring limitations of mask work we will get specific, wild, and quickly creative for four hours four days out of the week making as much performance as we can muster all while attempting to please, entertain, cajole, tickle, prod, bother, and disgust the most important group of individuals anyone could ever be a part of... an audience.
Who is leading this?
Ryan Pater of Write Foot Workshop. Ryan trained at the Pig Iron School and North Carolina School of the Arts. He was a teaching fellow at Lincoln Center Education and the Juilliard School. He co-hosts the Idiots Hour with Matthew Silver. He loves to teach and play and stay inspired by spending as much time in the studio as possible.
We will be creating work everyday with the hopes of sparking an ember inside that will burst into a house fire of inspiration!
playfulizationism (noun)
/藢辫濒别瑟.蹿蓹濒.补瑟藞锄别瑟.蕛蓹苍.瑟锄.蓹尘/
1. The belief in or practice of transforming everyday actions, environments, or systems into playful experiences; the ideology that playfulness is a vital and intentional mode of engagement with the world.
2. A cultural or artistic movement advocating the integration of whimsy, game mechanics, and imaginative interaction into traditionally serious or structured domains (such as education, politics, or architecture).
3. A philosophy that regards play not merely as recreation, but as a lens through which meaning, connection, and creativity are generated.
How could we possibly attempt to achieve such a state of existence in times like these?
We gotta move!
We gotta put on new masks!
Take off the old ones!
We gotta make, fail, and play TOGETHER!
