DESCRIPTION

Belvoir Terrace, a 6 week residential summer camp in the Berkshires, is seeking a Scenic Painter/Tech Theatre Instructor.

There are (2) Tech theatre classes that are each an hour long, and meet 3 times a week each. Tue/Thur/Saturday. These classes are used to teach campers the basics of scene shop safety, basic use of power tools, and the classes really enjoy helping paint the sets and props for the summer. In the past, scenic painters have taught wood grain techniques, how to use stencils for wallpaper, stone technique and more. For this class, you will also have a classroom assistant that is an Alumna of camp and finished their first year of college.

In NON CLASS HOURS you will have the scene shop and painting deck fully available to work on show sets as well.

Each Summer we do 6 Musicals and 8 plays in 4 different venues. We have a large stock of set pieces from previous summers that we try to use in new creative ways, with a new paint job. The Scenic painter will meet with all of our Directors for a design meeting and strategize an overall plan for the summer within the budget and realistic time frame constraints. The Theatre staff is very collaborative and our directors this summer are returning for their 17th, 11th, and 7th summers.
