Asolo Repertory Theatre鈥檚 2021 outdoor season鈥攑erformed in its newly constructed, socially distanced Terrace Stage venue鈥攔eplaces the theatre鈥檚 previously announced indoor productions of Our Town, Grand Horizons, Knoxville, and Hood, which are now slated for the 2021鈥�2022 season.
The revised season in Sarasota, Florida, will now launch February 5鈥�6 with concerts with two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes (Rodgers + Hammerstein鈥檚 Cinderella and Bonnie & Clyde), followed by E. Faye Butler in the rolling world premiere of Cheryl L. West鈥檚 Fannie: The Music and Life of Fannie Lou Hamer. The solo show, which will be presented February 17鈥揗arch 3, is produced in association with Goodman Theatre and Seattle Rep. The Henry Godinez-helmed drama tells the impassioned story of the American Civil Rights activist and hero.
From March 17鈥揂pril 1, Asolo Rep will offer a six-person concert version of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe鈥檚 Camelot. Directed by Asolo Rep Associate Artistic Director Celine Rosenthal, the classic musical will feature new orchestrations by Tony nominee Steve Orich, who will also serve as music director, and will be performed with some dialogue and staging. (The production is awaiting health and safety approval from Actors鈥� Equity Association.)
The season will conclude April 15鈥�24 with Ana Isabelle & Friends in Concert: Stand Back, Sarasota!. Featuring many of the stars of the Rep鈥檚 2017 production of Evita, the cast includes Ana Isabelle (Steven Spielberg鈥檚 upcoming West Side Story), Junior Cervila, and Guadalupe Garcia.
