Carols for a Cure, the 18th album of celebratory holiday music from the Broadway community, is now available for purchase in all Broadway theatres and online.
The two-disc album, benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, features new and classic holiday songs performed by cast members from Hamilton, Waitress, Cats, Something Rotten!, Holiday Inn, School of Rock, and The Color Purple, among others.
Album highlights follow:
Chicago 鈥� The first track opening this year鈥檚 album is a standout original titled 鈥淗oliday Melody,鈥� written by cast member Brian O鈥橞rien and orchestrated by Richard Rockage. It features Angel Reda on vocals.
Hamilton 鈥� The hit musical is represented with a song titled 鈥淚 Can See the Light,鈥� written by performer Anthony Ramos and associate music director Kurt Crowley. Ramos sings the solo, backed by group vocals from the rest of the company.
Waitress 鈥揓essie Mueller and her fellow cast members perform Sara Bareilles鈥� 鈥淟ove is Christmas.鈥�
Matilda 鈥� For their farewell song on the album, composer Deborah Abramson created a wistful and gorgeous new 鈥淎uld Lang Syne.鈥� The song includes the voices of every single one of the 19 girls who played Matilda since opening night.
On Your Feet 鈥� The cast performs Gloria Estefan鈥檚 鈥淐hristmas Through Your Eyes.鈥�
The Lion King 鈥� Cast member Mduduzi M. Madela wrote original melodies and added African chants for a very special 鈥淲hat Wondrous Love,鈥� orchestrated and conducted by Cherie Rosen.
