Here's how the production is billed: "As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father鈥檚 death but paralysed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state."
The majority of tickets are priced between 拢30 and 拢62.50, before booking fees, with a limited number of premium seats also available. The production will sell 100 seats per performance priced at 拢10.
More than 33,000 people were waiting in the online queue when tickets were released in 2014. An Olivier Award winner, Cumberbatch's stage credits include the 's 2011 production of Frankenstein and 50 Years on Stage. He will co-star with in Richard III.
Cumberbatch stars in the TV show "Sherlock," and his film credits include "The Imitation Game," for which he received an Academy Award nomination, "August: Osage County," "The Fifth Estate" and "12 Years a Slave."
National Theatre Live will broadcast Hamlet to cinemas worldwide Oct. 15.
