Rachel Bloom, the star and creator of the Golden Globe-winning TV series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, will host the 64th Annual Obie Awards.
This year's awards gala, honoring Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway performers and productions, is scheduled for May 20 at Terminal 5.
鈥淚 am thrilled to be hosting the Obies this year and can confirm that a tiny hat will be incorporated into my wardrobe,鈥 Bloom said in a statement.
鈥淚鈥檓 excited to expand on the Wing鈥檚 existing relationship with Rachel, who has brought her unique brand of comedy backstage at the Tony Awards for the last two telecasts. She鈥檚 a giant talent and, as evidenced by her casting choices on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a huge supporter and treasured member of our New York theater community,鈥 added Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing.
Michael Feingold will chair a judges panel that also includes Arin Arbus, Rachel Hauck, Riccardo Hernandez, Rajiv Joseph, Kecia Lewis, and Jesse Oxfeld.
The Obies are structured with informal categories, to recognize artists and productions worthy of distinction in each theatrical year.

The play by Emil Weinstein is based on the memoir by Abby Chava Stein, an openly transgender woman directly descended from Hasidic Judaism's founder, the Baal Shem Tov.
The piece stars Obie Award winner Jodie Markell as propagandist filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, whose work in service of the Nazis defined the visual identity of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich.
