The playwright development laboratory New Dramatists honored three-time Tony winner Nathan Lane with its 2019 Distinguished Achievement Award May 14 at its 70th Annual Spring Luncheon Tribute at the New York Marriott Marquis.
Each year, the Tony-honored organization salutes individuals who have made an outstanding artistic contribution to the theatre community.
"Nathan Lane has built a career that is, by all standards, one of the great actor success stories in our industry," said Emily Morse, artistic director of New Dramatists, in a statement. "His memorable performances on stage and screen are rooted in story-telling while demonstrating a dazzling sense of showmanship. He's a giant; a true man of the theatre, and we are thrilled to celebrate his tremendous talent and achievements in a year when he's also performing in a new play by one of our venerable and beloved alumni."

Lane can currently be seen on Broadway in Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, a new comedy by MacArthur Fellow and New Dramatists alumnus, Taylor Mac, directed by George C. Wolfe, New Dramatists board member.
On the publicity trail for his new series Mid-Century Modern, the Tony winner shared he had a hand in casting the current revival of Glengarry Glen Ross.
The work follows a first-generation child of Mexican immigrants torn between joining the family garment business or embarking on her own dream of attending college in NYC.
From taking on roles immortalized on screen by legendary A-listers to achieving wild special effect sequences, this musical created lots of challenges for its creators.
