New Girl executive producers Dave Finkel and Brett Baer co-wrote Immediate Family, a comedy about 鈥渁 real-life hero who鈥檚 convinced he鈥檚 the only one who can keep his super-diverse, super screwed-up family from falling apart.鈥�
Kail signed on to direct and develop the show with a script plus penalty commitment from Fox, which requires the network to pay the creators a significant sum if the pilot goes unproduced or is never aired. The project is part of a development deal Kail and his production company Old 320 Sycamore signed with Fox last summer.
