School of Rock and Bad Cinderella choreographer JoAnn M. Hunter is set to direct and choreograph the Broadway-aimed musical Yasuke: The Black Samurai, .
The musical, which is aiming to open on Broadway during the 2026-2027 season, features a book and music by B谩lint Varga, with lyrics by Azusa Fujikura, J枚el Ren茅 Scoville, and Joe Barros.

Yasuke: The Black Samurai tells the story of Yasuke, an African man who travels to 16th century Feudal Japan after being uprooted from Mozambique. Additional creatives and casting are to be announced.
