News John Rando Will Direct Staged Reading of New Musical The Sting The Araca Group will present a staged reading of the new musical The Sting Feb. 22-26 in Manhattan, according to an Equity casting notice.

Deadline.com had reported in May 2014 that , a Tony Award winner for the book of , had teamed with Tony-winning writers and to adapt the 1973 film "The Sting" for Broadway.

The forthcoming reading will be directed by , who won a Tony for staging the aforementioned Urinetown.

The musical is based on the movie "The Sting," written by David S. Ward and directed by , which took home seven 1974 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Music. Set in Depression-era Chicago, the motion picture starred and as professional grifters who con a mob boss (Robert Shaw).

The film's score features music by Scott Joplin, arranged and conducted by late Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer ().
