The full cast and creative team has been announced for Karen Zacar铆as's Destiny of Desire, running at The Old Globe from May 19 through June 25. Tony Award-winning director Ruben Santiago-Hudson is at the helm.
Destiny of Desire, an homage to the telenovela, follows two babies born on a stormy night in Bellarica, Mexico, one into outlandish wealth, and one into a life of poverty. When the newborns are swapped by a ruthless ex鈥揵eauty queen, the stage is set for two outrageous misfortunes to grow into an extraordinary destiny.
The cast of Destiny of Desire includes Julio Agust铆n as Dr. Jorge Ramiro Mendoza, Yesenia Ayala as Pilar Esperanza Castillo, Carlos Gomez as Ernesto Del Rio, Mandy Gonzalez as Hortencia Del Rio, Ariella Kvashny as La Gente, Tito Livas as Dr. Diego Mendoza, Bianca Marroqu铆n as Fabiola Castillo, James Olivas as Sebasti谩n Jose Castillo, Christopher M. Ramirez as La Gente, Al Rodrigo as Armando Castillo, Emilia Su谩rez as Victoria Maria Del Rio, and Nancy Ticotin as Sister Sonia. Rounding out the company as understudies are Tara Martinez and Luis Villabon.
In addition to director Santiago-Hudson and playwright Zacar铆as, the creative team features choreography by Lorna Ventura, original music/music supervision/orchestrations/music direction by Ricky Gonzalez, scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Karen Perry, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Robert Kaplowitz, and projection design by Hana S. Kim. ARC provides casting, and James Latus serves as Production Stage Manager.
