Princeton's McCarter Theatre Center has revealed the lineup for its 2024-2025 season, which promises an array of acclaimed plays, a world premiere, a holiday favorite, and more.
The season will kick off with the world premiere of the previously announced Empire Records, a new musical comedy based on the 1990s cult-classic film. Featuring an original rock score by Zoe Sarnak and a book penned by the film鈥檚 screenwriter, Carol Heikkinen, the production will be directed by Trip Cullman and will run September 6-October 6.
Duel Reality by 7 Fingers will play the Princeton venue next, running October 9鈥�13. The cirque-infused performance inspired by Shakespeare鈥檚 Romeo & Juliet will present two feuding families engaging in a battle of skill, while a pair of star-crossed lovers struggles to escape the showdown.
McCarter Theatre Center's annual holiday tradition will return December 10 with A Christmas Carol running through December 29. The Christmas favorite is adapted and directed by Lauren Keating.
The Tectonic Theater Project's Here There Are Blueberries will run January 24鈥揊ebruary 9, 2025. Conceived and directed by Mois茅s Kaufman, the work centers on United States Holocaust Memorial Museum archivist Rebecca Erbelding and her team of historians, who have uncovered the shocking story behind a handful of never-before-seen WWII-era photos.
Karen Zacar铆as' Legacy of Light, running March 20鈥揂pril 6, follows a present-day astrophysicist trying to become a mother. Meanwhile鈥�300 years earlier in France鈥攁 mathematician, scientist, and lover to Voltaire finds out she鈥檚 about to become one. Sarah Rasmussen will direct.
Eboni Booth's Primary Trust will close the season, arriving in Princeton following its run Off-Broadway last year. Directed by Timothy Douglas, the work explores the inner and outer lives of Kenneth, a dedicated loner with a passion for drinking Mai Tais on weeknights. The co-production with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will run in New Jersey May 8鈥�25.
