The Ciar谩n O鈥橰eilly-directed Love Letters will return to the Irish Repertory Theatre for a star-studded encore run September 5鈥揙ctober 1.
Pulitzer Prize finalist A.R. Gurney's dramatic play following two friends exchanging letters over a number of years had a sold-out run last spring starring Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti at the Off-Broadway company. O鈥橰eilly will return as director.
Broderick and Talia Balsam will open the encore engagement as Andrew and Melissa in a limited run September 5鈥�8. Victor Garber and J. Smith-Cameron will perform September 19鈥�24, and John Slattery and Brooke Shields will close the show September 27鈥揙ctober 1.
The first production of Love Letters opened Off-Broadway in 1989. Decades later, it remains a timeless two-handed exploration of love and companionship through two friends, Andrew and Melissa, who write to each other throughout their childhood, teenage years, college years, their careers, and their marriages.
