Film & TV News Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again Lands in Movie Theatres July 20 The sequel arrives a decade after the original film adaptation of the ABBA musical sensation.

The tunes of ABBA return to the big screen as Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2008 film adaptation of the musical phenomenon, opens in movie theatres nationwide July 20.

The new movie, written and directed by Ol Parker, tells two stories: the backstory of Donna and the Dynamos and the path that led to Donna鈥檚 life on the Greek island Kalokairi, as well as as what happens when her daughter Sophie prepares to welcome a child of her own.

Several members from the original movie's cast, including Amanda Seyfried, , , Julie Walters, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsg氓rd, and Dominic Cooper, return for the sequel. Joining them are a handful of new faces, including Lily James as young Donna, Cher as Donna鈥檚 mother Ruby, Andy Garc铆a, and Jessica Keenan Wynn.

Some ABBA songs heard in the original (including 鈥淒ancing Queen,鈥� 鈥淪OS,鈥� and 鈥淢amma Mia,鈥�) work their way back to the screen, though the set list also includes tunes from the Swedish pop group not included in either the stage musical or film, such as 鈥淎ngel Eyes,鈥� 鈥淔ernando,鈥� and 鈥淭he Name of the Game.鈥�
