Two-time Oscar winner Glenda Jackson has taken on one of the most challenging roles in the Shakespeare canon, the title character of King Lear, in a production of the classic at London鈥檚 Old Vic Theatre.
In previews since October 25, the production officially opened November 4 for a run through December 3. Directed by Deborah Warner, this Lear also features William Chubb, Morfydd Clark, Jane Horrocks, Rhys Ifans, Celia Imrie, Simon Manyonda, and Harry Melling, plus Fiston Barek, Gary Sefton, and Clifford Rose.

Jackson鈥檚 work spans theatre, film, and television. She earned her two Academy Awards for Women in Love and A Touch of Class. She's been nominated for four Tony Awards, for Macbeth (1988), Strange Interlude (1985), Rose (1981), and Marat/Sade (1966). Between 1992 and 2015 she served as a Member of Parliament, representing constituencies in Hampstead and Kilburn. This play marks her return to the stage for the first time in a quarter of a century.
