Jeffrey Seller's memoir, Theater Kid, is barely a month away from publication, and a proper audio production has been revealed as its perfect accompaniment.
A star-studded audiobook recording will be released of Seller's memoir alongside the print edition May 6. Seller is one of the most successful theatrical producers of his generation, having worked on some of the most influential musicals of the last 30 years, including Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights, Hamilton, and more.
Seller will lead the audiobook recording with audio appearances from Annaleigh Ashford, Kyle Beltran, Steven Boyer, Danny Burstein, Darren Criss, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sas Goldberg, Ren茅e Elise Goldsberry, Lindsay Mendez, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alex Newell, Andrew Rannells, Conrad Ricamora, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Christopher Sieber. The audiobook will also feature original music composed by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt.
Before Seller's career hit the stratosphere, he struggled to come to terms with his adoption, his sexuality, and his dysfunctional household in a poor neighborhood just outside Detroit. Theater Kid highlights Seller's determination to leave behind his past and craft his future onstage at the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
Seller's shows have garnered 22 Tony awards, including four for Best Musical, and his Broadway productions and tours have grossed over $4.6 billion and reached more than 43 million attendees. Seller is the only producer to have mounted two Pulitzer Prize-winning musicals鈥Hamilton and Rent. With the latter, Seller pioneered the concept ticket lotteries, now in wide use across Broadway.
