Four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Walking Dead, Golda鈥檚 Balcony) will star in the Bay Street Theater's world premiere of Wade Dooley鈥檚 The Prompter, the first show of the 2019 Mainstage Season.
Helmed by Bay Street Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, performances are scheduled for May 28鈥揓une 16. Playwright Dooley (Jersey Boys) will co-star.
The comedy concerns veteran actor Irene Young (Feldshuh), who, after a 40-year absence, is returning to the Broadway stage. But now, she can鈥檛 do it alone; the production hires young actor Wade (Dooley) to be her prompter. Based on real events, the play offers a heartfelt, untold, behind-the-scenes look at Broadway through the eyes of a young dreamer.
The production will also have set design by Kevin Depinet, lighting design by Mike Billings, costume design by Tracy Christensen, sound design by Jon Weston, wig, hair, and makeup design by J. Jared Janas, and props designed by Andrew Diaz. The stage manager is Denise Yaney with casting by Binder Casting.
