Tony-winning original Broadway Dreamgirls star Jennifer Holliday is not going, even if her mic goes out. When sound issues befell a recent performance of "I Am Changing" from the Henry Krieger-Tom Eyen score aboard an LGBTQ+ Vacaya cruise, Holliday waved the band out and let the show go on by finishing the song unaccompanied and unamplified. When you've got a rafter-raising voice like Holliday, that's no problem.

Holliday won a 1982 Tony Award creating the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls, making both "I Am Changing" and "And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" into bonafide Broadway classics. She's since returned to Broadway in Grease, The Color Purple, and Chicago.
