The gay romantic comedy A Nice Indian Boy, based on the play by Madhuri Shekar, will arrive in cinemas in the U.S. and Canada April 4. Get a first look at the new film in the just-released trailer above.
Karan Soni (Deadpool) and Tony winner Jonathan Groff, who returns to Broadway later this season in Just in Time, co-star. They are joined by Sunita Mani, Zarna Garg, Harish Patel, Peter S. Kim, and Sas Goldberg.
Roshan Sethi directed Eric Randall's screenplay.
In the film, soft-spoken doctor Naveen (Soni) brings his white artist boyfriend Jay (Groff) home to meet his traditional Indian family. Despite facing uncomfortable truths about their own ideas of love and marriage, the family attempts to plan the big Indian wedding of Naveen and Jay鈥檚 dreams.
A Nice Indian Boy is produced by Renee Witt, Charlie McSpadden, Justin Baldoni, and Andrew Calof. Executive producers include Shekar, Soni, Steve Sarowitz, Angela Cardon, Jamal Daniel, Thalia Daniel, Mindy Kaling, Jessica Kumai Scott, and Daniel Bekerman. The play first premiered in 2014 at East West Players in Los Angeles.
