With a focus on inclusivity and community, we host a variety of festivals and events that celebrate the diversity and creativity of the performing arts.


Position Overview

FRIGID New York is seeking a Festival Coordinator to start training immediately. The Festival Coordinator will oversee the planning, organization, and execution of FRIGID New York鈥檚 festivals, including the annual New York City Fringe Festival, Queerly Festival, Little Shakespeare Festival, Days of the Dead Festival, and Gotham Storytelling Festival. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of all our festivals, fostering strong relationships with artists, and delivering an exceptional experience for audiences. This is a very part time position, mostly remote and suitable for an organized and efficient personality.


Key Responsibilities

Festival Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and manage detailed timelines and schedules throughout the year.

  • Coordinate artist applications, selection processes, communication, and scheduling.

  • Conduct artist orientations ahead of each festival and answer questions from artists in the lead up to them joining on site

  • Act as the primary liaison for participating artists, ensuring clear communication and support.

Event Logistics

  • Oversee venue logistics, including setup, technical requirements, and compliance with safety regulations.

  • Work closely with technical and front-of-house staff to ensure all performances run smoothly.


Community Engagement & Marketing

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote festivals, including social media campaigns, press releases, and community outreach.

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Collect and analyze feedback from artists, audiences, and staff to improve future events.

  • Facilitate post-festival reports detailing successes, challenges, and recommendations.


Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in event or festival coordination, preferably in the performing arts.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with artists, staff, and audiences.

  • Proficiency in G-Suite, Slack, and Monday is preferred but not required.

  • Capacity to command a room of Artists and provide a sense of calm and control.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with technical theater operations (lighting, sound, staging).

  • Familiarity with the New York arts scene (specifically independent theater producing) and FRIGID New York鈥檚 mission.

Time Commitment

  • Attend weekly remote staff meetings.

  • Do roughly 3 - 5 hours of email communication each week, on your own time.

  • Be available in person to host orientations, theater walkthroughs, and other festival-related activities as needed.


Compensation

  • Hourly rate $19/hr.

  • Flexible schedule mostly remote work outside of event periods.

  • Access to performances and events hosted by FRIGID New York.
