Off-Broadway News 1st 100 Ticket Buyers for Joy Musical Set to Cleanup in Box-Office Giveaway

The new musical, starring Betsy Wolfe, will begin previews Off-Broadway June 21.

When the box office at the Laura Pels Theatre opens June 16 at noon ET for the Off-Broadway debut of JOY: A New True Musical鈥攍ed by Betsy Wolfe as Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano鈥攁ll tickets purchased in person until 5 PM that day will be priced $19.95 each, the same price of the original Miracle Mop in 1992.

Between noon and 2 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with & Juliet Tony nominee Wolfe and other cast members, and the first 100 purchasers will also be able to walk away with a free mop. There will also be a prize wheel, where patrons can win prizes that include T-shirts, bracelets, hats, stickers, Mangano鈥檚 book, and her huggable hangers invention.

There is a limit of two tickets per person, and a limited number of tickets will be available for each performance. The special pricing is offered for tickets for performances June 21, the first day of previews; through July 19. Opening night is July 20. The Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre is located at 111 West 46th Street.

Joining Wolfe on stage will be Charl Brown (Tammy Faye) as Dan, Adam Grupper (Pictures From Home) as Rudy, Brandon Espinoza (Big) as Tony, Jill Abramovitz (Beetlejuice) as Joy's mother Toots, Honor Blue Savage (The Goodbye Girl) as Joy's daughter Christie, Gabriela Carrillo as Ronni, Paul Whitty as Cowboy Eddie, and Jaygee Macapugay as Lorraine plus ensemble members Dana Costello, Ryan Duncan, Gaelen Gilliland, Sydni Moon, Manuel Santos, Brian Shepard, Allysa Shorte, Lael Van Keuren, and Alan Wiggins as well as swings Briana Brooks, Nora Mae Dixon, Micha艂 Ko艂aczkowski, and Jerome Vivona.

Lorin Latarro is directing, and Joshua Bergasse is choreographing.

Joy, which features a book by Tony winner Davenport and music and lyrics by Tony nominee Milazzo, is based on the true story of Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop, and follows the single mother's financial struggles as she builds a business empire. The musical is adapted from Mangano's memoir, Inventing Joy: Dare to Build a Brave and Creative Life, and played a world-premiere engagement at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse in 2022.

The upcoming production will also have scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Tina McCartney, lighting design by Yael Lubetzky, sound design by Daniel Lundberg, projection and video design by David Bengali, hair and wig design by Darion Matthews, music supervision by Andy Einhorn, music direction by Jillian Zack, production stage management by Gary Mickelson, and general management by ShowTown Theatricals.

Sandi Moran and Davenport produce with TBD Theatricals, Christine Petti, Jonathan & Rae Corr, Scott Abrams, Adam Riemer, Christine G. Williamson, Sheri & Les Biller, Michael T. Cohen and Robin Reinach, Ashley Howe, Stark Sands, Laurie and Emily Tisch, Marco Santarelli, Beauty Theatrical Productions, Mark Jacobs, Shalini Matani, Sara Miller McCune, Megan Ann Rasmussen, Larry Craig and the Bird, and The Broadway Investor鈥檚 Club.

Performances will continue through August 17.

Although it is being performed at the Steinberg Center, Joy is not a Roundabout Theatre Company production.
